Ian Woolverton

Ian looks after the media at River Action. He is a senior media manager with extensive experience working for Red Cross/Red Crescent, Oxfam, Save the Children and UN. During his 20-year career, he has raised the profile of humanitarian emergencies, climate justice as well as asylum seeker and refugee rights.

Recognised for his work in hazardous and dangerous environments in foreign countries, Ian was awarded the Humanitarian Overseas Service Medal (HOSM). The HOSM is awarded through the Australian honors system.

As a child brought up in urban poverty in the Black Country, Ian found nature was revolutionary in his life. Now, a keen walker living on the edge of the Lake District National Park, he understands the impacts of water pollution on both wild and urban spaces.
